About

One association, two proud schools

The Battle of the Gold Global OB Association unites the alumni of St. Mary’s College and Kegalu Vidyalaya of Kegalle, Sri Lanka — a global family bound by a shared gold thread.

The Two Schools

Equal in every measure

Two schools, two traditions, one town. St. Mary’s College and Kegalu Vidyalaya have shaped generations of Kegalle. This association carries what they share and honours what makes each its own — never favouring one over the other.

The Rivalry

The Battle of the Gold

Every year the two schools meet in the Battle of the Gold — a three-day test match followed by a one-day game. It is one of Kegalle’s great sporting traditions: fiercely contested on the field, warmly celebrated off it.

Gold is the colour both schools share, and it gives the encounter — and this association — its name. Wherever our members are in the world, the Battle of the Gold is the day the whole family looks home.

The Association

A global home for alumni

Members worldwide register, support the association through an annual contribution, and — once verified — take part in the governance of a democratically elected Executive Committee. Our work spans six regions across the globe, each represented on the committee.
